RADIOLOGY AND IMAGE UNIT
The Radiology and Image Unit offers the following services:
• Multi-slice Helical Tomography TC 16
Imaging method that allows performing, through its 16 detectors, tomographic studies, obtaining cross-sectional images and from these its evaluation in the coronal and sagittal axis with sub-millimetric slice thickness for a deep and correct evaluation. facilitates the timely diagnosis. Within its applications is the Angio -Tac that assesses the arterial system (lung, heart, kidney, brain, etc.) also obtains virtual evaluation of the colon and airway (Colonoscopy and Virtual Endoscopy).
• Magnetic Resonance
High magnetic field equipment, does not emit ionizing radiation. In addition to conducting studies with applications in neurology (brain, spine), thorax, abdomen and skeletal muscle system, it has the most current technological advances such as spectrography, tractography and functional magnetic resonance. There are also studies with evaluation of the vascular system (angioresonance).
• Echocardiography
The echocardiography equipment has the most advanced technology for the ultrasonographic study of the heart in two-dimensional form, with Doppler echo, in addition to being equipped with a trans esophageal transducer that allows a more precise intra-cavitary visualization of the heart and with the module of dobutamine for tests of cardiac stress with echocardiography, in order to assess the heart in an integral way, obtaining an assessment of its functioning that yields important data to have an opportune diagnosis.
• Orthopantography
Radiology equipment specifically oriented to the complete exploration of the upper and lower jaws and corresponding dental arches, as well as mandibular joints and neighboring facial structures for an integral evaluation of them for applications in orthodontics, implants, maxillofacial surgery, otorhinolaryngology and aesthetics.
• Radiology and Fluoroscopy DuoDiagnost
There are two radiology equipments in the Unit, for conventional and fluoroscopic studies with state-of-the-art equipment that allow the digitalization of images. Fluoroscopy is a form of radiological diagnosis that through x-rays, and with the help of a contrast medium allows to visualize organs or an area of interest in real time and with movement. There is also a conventional radiology room installed in the Emergency Unit in order to provide emergency care to patients who require it. There are two mobile x-ray equipment for use in different areas of hospitalization and a mobile arch for transoperative fluoroscopic studies, with storage and sending of digital images.
• Ultrasound / Doppler Color
It has equipment for assessment of organs of the abdomen (liver, pancreas, kidneys, spleen), pelvis (uterus, ovaries, prostate), small parts (thyroid, testicle, breast), as well as the performing musculoskeletal, joint studies: knee, shoulder. In addition to Doppler color and pulsed Doppler assessment, in carotid arteries and of thoracic and pelvic limbs.
• Ultrasound 4D
The ultrasound 4D shows the three-dimensional images with real-time movement which allows to visualize more details of the dynamics of small anatomical structures, very useful in the assessment of pregnancy for the anatomy of the fetus.
• Extracorporeal lithotripsy
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is a procedure used to disintegrate simple renal or upper urinary tract stones. Ultrasonic waves pass through the body until they collide with the stones. The vibrations of these waves pulverize the stones, which are discarded more easily by the organism.
• Area of women
The Radiology and Image Unit has an innovative concept where, in a single physical area independent of the rest of this Unit, studies of mammography and ultrasound are included only for female patients.
• Mammography
It allows to detect in a timely manner those patients with breast cancer. Mammography allows radiographs of the mammary glands using minimum doses of radiation, which produces images of optimal diagnostic quality. In addition, minimally invasive procedures such as the marking or biopsy of the gland for therapeutic, diagnostic or pre-surgical purposes can be performed.
• Gynecological Ultrasound
The ultrasound in the area of the Woman is a dedicated equipment for gynecological and breast ultrasounds with the purpose of timely detection of cancer as well as control from the non-obtrusive point of view.
CARDIOLOY AND PULMONOLOGY
In the area of cardiology we have highly specialized medical and technological equipment. With our ultrasound we can perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms of high complexity in both adult and pediatric patients, functional cardiac tests at rest and stress, as support in the diagnosis of congenital disorders, coronary diseases, valvular, pulmonary vascular, etc.
We also have equipment for stress testing, for ambulatory monitoring of blood pressure and holter electrocardiography.
In June 2012, we opened the first Integral Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Center in San Luis Potosi.

PATHOLOGICAL ANATOMY DEPARTMENT
The Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Hospital de la Salud is a department with more than 30 years of experience, with highly qualified personnel and at the forefront of histopathological diagnostic studies. It is recognized in the field of pathology for its career and performance also in its active academic participation that has been something that has distinguished it. It has the interrelation with other departments of Pathology, both national and international, which allows a greater diagnostic precision in its interaction.
The Laboratory counts two medical specialists in pathological anatomy, a cytotechnologist, a Histotechnologist, a Molecular Biologist, a secretary, an Administrator and a Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement.

SURGICAL PATOLOGY.
“The first step and the basis for a specific treatment, is a precise diagnosis”.
The pathological study of biopsies and surgical pieces is fundamental to determine the diagnosis of multiple diseases, especially cancer. Our Hospital has a Department of Pathological Anatomy with microscopy equipment, macroscopy unit, tissue processing, microtomy, photomicroscopy, as well as the use of importing reagents of the highest quality. All surgical pieces with cancer are staged according to the most recent protocols of the College of American Pathologists and the American Joint Committee on Cancer. We have a network of world-class experts from the best hospitals and universities in the USA as consultants in cases of extreme diagnostic difficulty.
1. IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY.
Undoubtedly, the technique that has revolutionized the pathological diagnosis in the last 50 years is Immunohistochemistry. This powerful tool is absolutely indispensable at the present time in Pathology laboratories, since it allows to corroborate, establish or refine multiple diagnoses, especially cancer cases, as well as to determine the existence or not of forecast and predictive factors of response to "white" treatments. Our laboratory has more than 160 antibodies (and is constantly expanding), uses the most modern systems worldwide and a 27 year experience - as well as specific training - by the Department Director in this technique.
2. CITOPATOLOGY.
Our laboratory has a gynecological cytology interpreting service (Papanicolaou) with a liquid based system, which is the method used in the US and Europe for the timely detection of cervico-uterine cancer. Also of cytologies of organic liquids (expectoration, pleural fluid, peritoneal, urine, etc.) and Puncture specimens Fine needle aspiration (thyroid gland, salivary glands, mammary gland, lymphatic nodes, etc.).
3. MOLECULAR BIOLOGY.
The laboratory offers molecular biology services, necessary for the prediction of response to treatments against various types of cancer, as well as for diagnostic purposes. For this, we have a collaboration agreement with a reference Laboratory with the highest standards in this technique, as long as we are assembling it in our laboratory.
